Sunday 11 October 2026 | 2pm kick-off | FA Women’s National League
Bridgwater United Women FC face a major test of their outstanding start to the 2026/27 campaign this Sunday as they travel to Portsmouth to take on Moneyfields in the FA Women’s National League.
Steve Perkins’ side arrive at the John Jenkins Stadium sitting proudly at the top of the table, having won all five of their opening league fixtures. However, they face a Moneyfields side who have also made an impressive start and will be determined to close the gap on the league leaders.
United setting the standard
Bridgwater’s early-season league form has been exceptional. Five wins from five have earned United a maximum 15 points, with 14 goals scored and just one conceded.
That defensive resilience has been a key feature of their performances, alongside an ability to find ways to win and deliver results consistently.
Having established themselves at the summit of The FA WNL, United will be keen to maintain their momentum against one of their closest challengers.
But Sunday presents a different kind of test. Moneyfields have demonstrated their own attacking threat this season, meaning Bridgwater will need to combine their defensive organisation with the quality and confidence that have characterised their start to the campaign.
Moneyfields pose a significant challenge
The hosts currently sit second in the division, having won four of their opening five league matches.
Jack Randall’s side will be eager to respond after suffering a 3–2 defeat away to Bristol Rovers in their most recent league outing. They will also be looking forward to returning to home action, where they have made a strong start to the season.
Moneyfields have scored 17 goals in their opening five league fixtures, underlining the attacking threat United will need to contain.
With both teams targeting the top end of the table, the fixture promises to be a compelling contest between two sides who have shown they can compete for maximum points.
An important early-season encounter
Although there is a long way to go in the league campaign, fixtures against fellow promotion contenders can have a significant influence on the momentum and confidence of a team.
For Bridgwater, the challenge is to continue doing what has brought them success so far: maintaining high standards, working collectively and delivering performances that reflect the club’s ambitions.
The squad will travel to Portsmouth knowing that their unbeaten league record will be tested, but also with confidence built on five consecutive victories.
A sixth successive league win would represent another significant statement of intent from United.
