Bridgwater United Women FC are delighted to announce the signing of Ella Pemberton ahead of the FA Women’s National League starting this weekend.
Pemberton brings energy, experience at a higher level, along with a mix of both defensive and attacking intent to the squad.
A box-to-box midfielder, who can play across numerous different positions, Pemberton is also known for her direct running and work rate off the ball, and is set to add another dimension to Bridgwater’s midfield.
Pemberton brings tier three experience to the club, who played for Cheltenham Town 27 times in the 2024/25 season. The 26 year old also made 14 appearances for Bristol Rovers in the 2026/26 season, who United face this coming Sunday in the season opener at the MEM.
Speaking about signing for Bridgwater United Women, Pemberton said. “I’m really happy to be here. Everyone across the club has been extremely welcoming and I cannot wait to repay them on the pitch.
“Preseason has showed we’re set up for a really exciting season and the goal for the club has been clear from the start. I’m confident with the players and staff that we have, we can collectively have a really successful year. My ambition is to contribute in as many ways as possible on and off the pitch, I want to win and it would be even better to do it with this group of people.”
Head Coach Steve Perkins said: “Pembo is another player who has hit the ground running, registering an assist just 17 seconds into her first appearance in a Bridgwater shirt. She comes with excellent pedigree, having spent time with clubs such as Liverpool and Stoke as a younger player, before gaining Tier 3 experience with Cheltenham and, more recently, Bristol Rovers last season.
“Pembo has real quality in possession and is equally tenacious out of possession. She brings creativity, energy and a real cutting edge in the final third, which I’m sure will be a huge asset for us this season.
“She’s settled into the group brilliantly and has already become a key part of the squad. I’m really excited to see the impact Pembo can have for us this season, and now we just can’t wait to get started.”
