Itβs back toΒ FA Womenβs National League actionΒ for Bridgwater United Women today, as we make the trip to Devon to face Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies FC.
After a short break with cup action, attention now turns back to league football and another important test.
The two clubs have not yet met competitively this season, but Marine Academy feature in our FA WNL Cup group alongside, Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United.
After an excellent start to the new league campaign, Bridgwater Utd will be looking to continue that momentum and come away from Erme Valley with another three points.
The Reds have started the season strongly and remain unbeaten in league action, following impressive performances in our opening three fixtures. There are three wins from three, with ten goals scored with no reply, but those results are done, and it is about focusing on the next game now.
Tomorrow provides another important test, however, against a Marine Academy side who will be determined to put their first league points on the board. Defeats to Abingdon, Bristol Rovers and Moneyfields, have left MAP one of three teams without a single point.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT LEAGUE TEST
With the league campaign still in its early stages, every point matters.
Last season, BUWFC finished third in the division with 46 points, representing a 19-point improvement on the previous campaign.
The challenge this season is to build on that progress.
The standards have been raised across the club, both on and off the pitch, and tomorrow’s fixture is another opportunity for the squad to demonstrate the progress being made.
There will be no complacency, though.
Marine Academy will have home advantage and will be looking to make life difficult for the Robins from the first whistle. Bridgwater will need to match their intensity, compete for every ball and maintain the standards that have served us so well during the opening weeks of the season.
Previous encounters have always been a close affair. In the 2025/26 season, it was a single Beatriz Kretteis goal, which gave Bridgwater a 1-0 victory at Erme Valley in March.
THE OPPOSITION
Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies FC are an established side within the South West women’s football pyramid and will provide another competitive test for BUWFC.
They are still looking for their first league points of the season, but the Reds will know better than to read too much into the early league table.
Tomorrow is about the performance, the application and ultimately putting ourselves in the best possible position to secure three points.
MAP were eighth in the division last season, with six wins and four draws, from their 22 league games.
KEEPING THE MOMENTUM
The start to the 2026/27 campaign has created plenty of excitement around Bridgwater United Women.
Attendances are up significantly, the club continues to grow commercially and, on the pitch, the team are showing the benefits of the progress made over the last 12 months.
But tomorrow is another game β and another opportunity to earn three points.
The focus remains firmly on the next fixture.
Some good travelling support is expected, and a full squad is expected to be available for selection.
