Attacking talent added with the signing of Abbey Hateley

Bridgwater United Women are delighted to announce the signing of Abbey Hateley ahead of the 2026/27 FA Women’s National League campaign.

Abbey joins the Robins after gaining valuable experience at Tier 3 with Cheltenham Town before spending last season with Bristol Rovers.

A dynamic wide player who can also operate further forward, Abbey brings pace, creativity and attacking quality to Steve Perkins’ squad as preparations continue for the new season.

Speaking about her move to Bridgwater United, Abbey said: “I’m really excited to be here. Bridgwater have huge ambition and pre season has definitely set the standards for what we want to do this season. I already feel valued as a player which is really important for me – the group are great and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it so far.”

Hateley added, “Going into the season, I’m hoping to use my attacking mindset and experience to contribute to winning games. Promotion is always a massive achievement and I’m ready to give 110% to make sure Bridgwater get success in the league this year.”

Head Coach Steve Perkins welcomed the signing, saying “Abbey has real quality on the ball and is an outstanding athlete. You can see from the way she plays that she has experience of competing at a higher level, and we’re delighted to bring someone with those qualities into the squad.

She’s an exciting addition to what is already a talented group, and I’m looking forward to seeing the impact she’ll make. I can’t wait to see Abbey pull on the red and black shirt and show our supporters exactly what she’s capable of.”
