Bridgwater United Women FC are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Jasmine Read from Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies FC ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Jasmine arrives at the club with valuable Tier 3 and Tier 4 experience and joins a United squad that is continuing to build towards an exciting 2026/27 FA Women’s National League campaign.
Alongside a recent full season at Marine Academy Plymouth, Read was previously signed to Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle in the third tier of women’s football. During her time at Exeter, Read was also placed on loan to Torquay United.
The goalkeeper becomes the latest addition to our squad as we continue to strengthen in key areas, with Jasmine bringing her experience, ability and ambition to United’s new home at the Ethan Berry Stadium.
Following United’s impressive third-place finish last season, the club has made no secret of its ambition to compete at the top end of the division — and securing quality between the sticks is an important part of that.
Jasmine has bought into the vision and ambition of Bridgwater United Women FC and is now ready to begin the next chapter of her career in United colours.
Steve Perkins, Head Coach said, ““Jasmine has started her time at Bridgwater in excellent fashion. On her debut she saved a penalty, made some excellent stops and also showed how composed and assured she is in possession.
“From our very first conversations, Jasmine made it clear how much she wanted to be at this club, and that passion and commitment has been a real breath of fresh air for all of us.
“She’s settled into the group brilliantly and has already shown the qualities she can bring both on and off the pitch. We’re delighted to have her with us and I can’t wait for the opening game of the season and to see what we can achieve together.”
Jasmine commented, saying, “I am delighted to be joining Bridgwater United for the upcoming season. When the opportunity presented itself for me to join, it was something I could not turn down.
“I have gained many valuable experiences across my time in Devon, now it is time to come back closer to home!
“I have enjoyed integrating with the team and the staff over the past week and I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together this season.”
Bridgwater United Women FC Goalkeeping Coach, Steve Phillips added, “I’m thrilled to welcome back Jasmine to the goalkeeping group. Having worked with Jasmine a couple of years ago for a short time, I’m looking forward to helping Jasmine improve on what is already a very solid platform. After just one session, her work rate, willingness to engage in points to help her improve, were great to see, and I can guarantee Jasmine will only keep heading in one direction.
