Bridgwater United Women FC return to league action on Sunday as we welcome Ascot United Women to the Ethan Berry Pavilion for our second home FA Women’s National League fixture of the 2026/27 campaign.

It promises to be another important afternoon for the club, with the team looking to continue the winning start to life at our new home in league competition.
Following last Sundays resilient performance at home against Maidenhead United Women, Steve Perkins’ side will be looking to continue that momentum and put three more valuable league points on the board.
A strong start
The season began in excellent fashion for Bridgwater, with a commanding 3-0 victory away at Bristol Rovers Women.
Goals from Manfy Shapre, Aimee Kingdon and Abbey Hateley secured all three points at The Memorial Stadium, with the performance showcasing the attacking threat and defensive resilience within the squad.
Last Sunday, Meg Jarvis scored in the first half, to put another three points on the board, defeating Dave Kitsons team at Middlezoy, in front of 223 fans.
However, football rarely gives you much time to reflect.
A midweek trip to Torquay United in the FA Women’s National League Cup which saw 8 changes to the starting XI, ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat, with the hosts securing victory through a very contentious first-half penalty.
The result will undoubtedly provide added motivation for the squad as they return to league action this weekend.
Team News
Defender, Libby Gimson, came off with an injury in the second half against Torquay, and is a doubt for the game, but Perkins is expected to be able to select from what is a really competitive full squad.
Midfielders, Ellie Mae-Bell and Ella Pemberton were able to get through a full 90 mins midweek, alongside wide forward Rosie Hill Other strong individual performances, are going to make selection tough, ahead of another home match.
The opposition
Ascot United arrive in Somerset as another tough test for Bridgwater.
The two sides know each other well from last season’s FA Women’s National League campaign, with the corresponding fixture at home ending in a 1-1 draw in February.
Ascot enjoyed a strong campaign last season and will once again provide a competitive challenge in the South West Division.
A new home. A new chapter.
Sunday is once again about more than just three points.
It will be the second opportunity for our supporters to watch their team compete in an FA Women’s National League fixture at the Ethan Berry Pavilion.
After months of work behind the scenes, the new home is ready – and now it’s time for the supporters to help create the atmosphere.
The squad have already shown what they are capable of. Now they want to do it in front of their own supporters.
